Specialists in the state of Chiapas, in southern Mexico, are looking for clues as to what happened to the neighborhood president after a group of villagers brutally kidnapped him from a police vehicle. The locals then put him in a different car and fled the scene.
The incident occurred this week in a remote region of Chiapas, where Santiago El Pinar president Alfonso Gomez Gomez was driving a police car along the highway connecting San Cristobal de Las Casas and San Juan Chamula.

The people abandoned the officers car after they removed the elected official from the area. Authorities are currently looking for the lawmaker who has vanished.
According to Mexico’s AM News, people were people of the Toztziles indigenous people. Since then, no requirements for payment have been made. None of the different indigenous companies or organizations in Chiapas have apologised for the kidnapping.
As adversary drug cartels in the area have started fighting over control of rewarding drug trafficking and human trafficking routes into Mexico in recent days, Chiapas has seen higher levels of violence. Chiapas is on the southwestern boundary with Guatemala. One of the immigration areas is where a significant number of Central and South American immigrants travel northwest to the US-Mexico border as they attempt to cross the border.
