Uri Berliner, a senior director for National Public Radio, has been suspended for his illicit criticism of the network’s isolated liberal discrimination. Radio sun and Morning Edition Steve Inskeep, a number, took to his Substack website to criticize Berliner’s article, calling it “full of errors and omissions. ” ”
Inskeep blasted the claim that it was an article that discredited itself, and that his coworkers had a prosperous discussion about his errors. ”
For instance, Inskeep flagged a mistake in a D. Berliner discovery. C. Voting records indicate that NPR had 87 listed Democrats and no documented Republicans. He claims that when he was questioned about Berliner at the San Antonio Book Festival, he responded that he had told them that he was a well-known journalist in Washington. If Uri told the truth, then I could only be a documented Democrat. I held up my voting registration to show that I was associated with a ‘no party’. Some in the audience gasped. Uri had misled them. ”
Berlinder did not mention if anyone was listed as a “no gathering.” ” He did read there were zero Republicans. Did Inskeep reject that? No. Some NPR soldiers harrumphed they registered as “no group, ” only as left-wing editors will tell pollsters they are “independents. ”
Inskeep wrote, “ While it ’s widely believed that most mainstream journalists are Democrats, I’ve had colleagues that I was pretty sure are conservative ( I don’t ask ). ” That rebuts Berliner how?
Berliner acknowledged they have office disputes, but he claimed that the actual check is what we televised or publish when Inskeep physically challenged him about his claim that the editing process was “frictionless.” ” Inskeep leaves out what Berliner wrote about – that they put out a lot of stories on “supposed prejudice, stigmatization, signs of the weather tragedy, Israel doing anything bad, and the severe risk of Democrat policies. Anyone who watches Radio courses will get an earful of those.
You have to chuckle when Inskeep’s best safeguard is “everybody more did it, too. ” He admits NPR did not report on the Hunter Biden laptop, but Berliner “leaves out the perspective: Another organizations also held off on the account because of concerns about the laptop’s integrity. It was n’t confirmed until much later. ”
Now who’s engaged in “omissions”? NPR not only refused to report on the laptop, their top news executive Terence Samuel openly boasted “we do n’t want to waste our time on stories that are not really stories, and we do n’t want to waste the listeners ’ and readers ’ time on stories that are just pure distractions. ”
That implies that they would n’t touch this story, as if it were a decaying rat corpse in a gutter.
On the horribly titled evening newscast All Things Considered , Samuel signaled the same contempt. In June of 2021, Mary Louise Kelly, the anchor, advised them to seek the “whole truth,” but exclude the liars: “It’s not a matter of representing just opposite voices, but more voices and excluding the voices that are just pure disinformation. ”
After those “other organizations ” confirmed the laptop contents were real, nothing changed. In 2023, Kelly contacted Samuel to say that Trump would not be allowed to speak on NPR live because he had been imprisoned because of his lies, but Kelly ( as in 2021 ) did not mention Hunter’s laptop.
But the most ridiculous line in Inskeep’s critique is claiming Berliner advocates “viewpoint diversity, ” but he did n’t embrace it in his article, which spurred all his “errors and omissions. Would Inskeep agree to debate Berliner for an hour or two on NPR if it were so committed to viewpoint diversity? Probably not. NPR has n’t said one word on air about Berliner’s complaint.
