Local Law 97, then known as New York City ’s Green New Deal, became successful in November 2019. Beginning in 2024, a cap on how much greenhouse gases covered buildings can produce will be established in accordance with the law to help the city reduce its greenhouse gas emissions by 40 % by 2030.
