Vedant Patel, the deputy assistant press secretary for the State Department, confirmed on Thursday that the U.S. S. will reject a UN Security Council resolution that would have allowed Palestinians to obtain sovereignty.
John Kirby, a spokesman for the White House’s regional security, had previously dodged a question about whether the U.S. was in trouble. S. would reject such a solution, stating only that the administration believed that discussions were the only way to a statehood.
However, Patel made explicit reference to the administration’s reject pledge, noting that members of the UN Security Council disagreed on whether the Palestinians complied with fundamental standards for independence.
He added that the current U.S. S. If the Palestinians used the UN to consider a position, UN money would have to be discontinued.
As part of a comprehensive Middle Eastern peace agreement that would bring standardized relations between Israel and Saudi Arabia, the Biden presidency continues to push for a Palestinian state.
