A moment after more than a hundred pro-Palestinian activists were detained, artist Susan Sarandon joined anti-Israel activists gathering outside of Columbia University.
Sarandon was seen wearing a text coat with characters from The Simpsons in video footage posted to X. and chanting aloud to a group of activists as they recited after her.
In response to a surge in racism, Sarandon faced criticism in November 2023 for making a remark at a pro-Palestinian march that Jews were “getting a preference of what it feels like to be a Muslim in this land.”
As a result of her opinion, Sarandon was dropped by her organization, United Talent Agency.
As a group of activists chanted” Friday,” Sarandon could be heard saying:” It’s Friday.
…. that getting their accents heard is very important. And, that it is their right in a democracy, especially in a position of learning, and presumably higher thoughts. It is unacceptable to face prejudice and hatred. There are many, countless people who stand with you. You must be aware of how much you inspire others. People who are worried, people who are old and frightened, are looking to you and your accents, and your business, and your persistence, and your kindness to make a distinction in the situation. You give me hope, to me and so many people, and in the ending, the truth will get.

According to CNN, lots of pro-Palestinian protesters were detained the day before, but dozens of them continue to camp on Columbia University’s grass on Friday, even after they were arrested the day before.
Rep. Ilhan Omar’s (D-MN) child, Isra Hirsi, was among the individuals who were arrested and given indictments for trespass.
Hirsi had previously revealed on X that she was one of the Barnard College kids who had been suspended because of her engagement with the anti-Israel camp set up on Columbia University’s south garden.
