KYIV, Ukraine ( AP ) – Ukraine launched a barrage of drones across Russia overnight, the Defense Ministry in Moscow said Saturday, in attacks that appeared to target the country ’s energy infrastructure.
Twenty-six drones were shot along by heat defenses over eight Russian areas, including 26 over the country’s northern Belgorod area close to the Russian frontier. Moscow added on Friday night that a US citizen who was known to have fought separatists supported by the Kremlin in Ukraine between 2014 and 2017 passed away in the Russian-occupied Donetsk place.
Russell Bentley, 64, was no longer involved in military operations and formerly worked for state-owned Russian news agency Sputnik.
