Jake Tapper, a host for CNN, claimed on his show” The Lead” that the former president’s immunity argument was “crazy ” because it would allow him to “do anything.” ”
Reading from a previous congressman. Liz Cheney’s (R-WY ) op-ed in The New York Times, Tapper said, “She warned, ‘If wait prevents this Trump event from being tried this time, the consumer may not hear critical and historical data developed before the grand jury, and our system may not hold the person most responsible for January 6 to account. ’ Then, she suggests there’s important proof against Trump. The January 6 Committee did not have any evidence from Mark Meadows, his original chief of staff, and former White House aide Dan Scavino that needs to be heard. What do you think? ”
Legal researcher Tom Dupree said, “Look, I think the Supreme Court takes these legal issues extremely seriously. I do n’t believe they will go as far as former President Trump has instructed them to. The broad definition of the presidential immunity Trump is advocating for wo n’t be approved by them, in my opinion. ”
Tapper said, “That’s mad, it ’s mad. He’s generally advocating that he can do everything. ”
Dupree agreed said, “That’s straight, But I think the interesting question is, to me, at least, goes to Congresswoman Cheney’s place, which is to say, is the Supreme Court going to simply suggest, ‘No resistance around. Let’s get to the trial, ’ or will they say there might be some resistance here, but the district court needs to determine the details and develop the curves? If the Supreme Court decides this situation in this case, there might be an additional postpone that will push this behind the election because the district court must decide whether these allegations fall under the purview of this immunity. ”
