In one of the most horrible cases of bird cruelty in recent years, a South Korean man was given a 14-month prison sentence for killing 76 animals. The person, who is in his 20s, was found guilty of creature safety law violation last week in South Korea, according to the Changwon District Court in southeast South Korea on Tuesday. The guy was not identified by the judge.
According to a court order obtained by The Associated Press, the man committed cat-killing operations between December 2022 and September 2023 because he had a profound contempt for the dog and started harboring it after another cat attacked his vehicle.
According to the court order, he had caught stray animals and adopted some from online stores before strangling some to suicide and killing some with scissors. According to the judge, he accidentally ran over one cat with a car.
The court determined that the prison term was inescapable because he had frequently committed “incredibly violent” crimes with care and intent.
The phrase was also intended to reflect the man’s regret for his crimes, and it was also made clear that his unnamed mental health status was a factor in his crimes.
    The person appealed the decision.
Borami Seo, a chairman of the South Korea department of the Humane Society International, said,” The word reflects Asian society’s growing issue for animal welfare and hatred for senseless violence such as this.”
This case of cruelty also highlights the value of passing the Civil Act amendment, which will allow people to be legally recognized as living creatures and strengthen their legal protection, Seo continued.
