A local Democratic main in Robeson County, North Carolina, has been smeared with claims of election corruption.

Democrat Lacy Cummings accused Democrat Commissioners Wixie Stephens and Judy Sampson of paying local inhabitants to cast ballots for Sampson in the country’s March 5 key votes in a complaint filed on Thursday in Wake County Superior Court. According to the nine written affidavits that were attached to the complaint, Stephens allegedly engaged in illegal behavior, including using her parole relationship company to pay voters with bail assistance payments.

In the Democrat key for the commission ‘ District 5 seats, the results of that vote and a March 27 tell show that Sampson, the incumbent, won by five vote, 875 to 870.

Cummings claimed in an” Initial Protest” form on March 15 that” two incidents occurred where a sitting County Commissioner [Stephens ] was allegedly working for Sampson’s campaign, who also incidentally drove these voters to the two different polls to cast two different ballots, were alleged to have occurred.” Thomas claimed that the Robeson County Board of Elections should discover his claims during its preliminary hearing but that the committee dissented and later rejected the opposition shape on March 27.

Thomas was prompted by this to charm on April 1 to the North Carolina State Board of Elections. Thomas ‘ charm was officially denied on April 5 by the state union’s Executive Director, Karen Brinson Bell.

While his appeals were pending before the Robeson County and North Carolina election boards, Cummings claimed in the issue that he and his group” continued to be approached by members of the public and continued to work to uncover more instances of voter irregularity, or worse.”

Cummings ‘ issue also contains written documents from allegedly registered voters in Robeson County alleging Sampson and Stephens had engaged in voter-buying during the election cycle. One resident claiming to be Gwen Woods claimed that Stephens gave her a$ 160 specific test signed by Sampson” to give 11 voters that I told Ms. Stephens I had taken to vote” was a false allegation. Another, Christy Jones, claimed Stephens paid her$ 15 per voter she transported to vote for Sampson.

According to an affidavit from Kalem Sampson, she received$ 60 from Stephens to support Judy Sampson, and another$ 80″ to pay four other voters to support” Sampson. Also, a person named Maggie Woods claimed Stephens had paid her”$ 60 funds to vote for Judy Sampson”.

According to an oath from Trent Locklear, Stephens claimed she had paid his twin brother for Sampson and that she had offered him$ 15 to vote for him. ” I witnessed Ms. Stephens paying some voters to vote for Ms. Judy Sampson”, the petition claimed.

A man named Paul Hunt claimed Stephens had” transported” his grandson to get a tribal card after paying him$ 40 to vote for him. According to an oath from Paula Ann Hunt,” Ms. Wixie Stephens transported me to the Raft Swamp polling page to ballot.” Ms. Stephens paid me$ 25 to vote for Ms. Judy Sampson. Ms. Stephens also purchased a seafood plate for me from Get N Go Grill]and ] told me]if] I ever went back to jail she would bail me out for free if I voted for” Sampson.

In exchange for supporting Sampson, Stephens, who owns a loan firm, had recently bailed her out of prison but had waived her monthly loan payment of$ 200 for the month of February, according to an affidavit signed by Kaitlyn Woods.

Lastly, a person named Jamie Oxendine claimed that” Wixie Stephens promised$ 20 per voter for voting for Ms. Judy Sampson. We had four seats. … The four seats were myself, Jessica Locklear, my son Jayden Oxendine” and a third incomprehensible brand.

According to the problem, Cummings claimed he did not have access to these recommendations until after filing his first protest type on March 15.

” These allegations, if correct, would each justify the possible occurrence of an outcome- definitive defect in the manner in which voters were counted or results tabulated, and also the possible occurrence of an outcome- definitive violation of election law, irregularity, or misconduct”, the complaint reads.

Stephens and Sampson are accused of bribing at least 21 voters, according to The Robesonian. Stephens has denied “pay]ing ] voters or assist]ing ] with their bail payments”, according to the outlet, but did acknowledge she “was working on Sampson’s re- election campaign this spring”. When pressed on the matter, she called Cummings” a habitual, unequivocal liar”.

Cummings has requested that the court grant him an order allowing him to record his findings and order granting a stay of the election results. He pleaded with the court to “make findings of felonious fraudulent activity by Stephens and Sampson” and also requested that” the votes currently tabulated in the race be recounted giving any and all proper deference to the irregularities and omissions described” in his complaint.
