Controversial ‘Hate Speech’ Provisions Sneak into Kids Online Safety Act

Democrats are invading the Kids Online Safety Act ( KOSA ) under the pretext of “protecting kids,” and many Republicans on Capitol Hill appear to be in favor.

The Surgeon General’s report on” Social Media and Youth Mental Health” criticized “hate-based content” and how” transgender youth are disproportionately impacted by online harassment and abuse” as inspiration for the Kids Online Safety Act ( KOSA ).

In turn, the Surgeon General’s report was prompted by left censorship wing activist and Facebook “whistleblower” Frances Haugen, who complained that the tech giant did n’t censor enough conservative speech. The NAACP, President Biden, Microsoft, and lots of quit- aircraft senators, including Elizabeth Warren, Brian Schatz, and Chuck Schumer, all help it.

The president’s conservative supporters are reacting to the serious issue of social media dependency and how it affects teenage depression and anxiety, which are both very real issues. But, KOSA goes way beyond addressing this concern by requiring social media companies, online video games, and even websites like 4chan to get “reasonable measures” to avoid “online abuse and abuse”. of adolescents.

Big Tech and Democrats have been using vehement regulations about “harassment” as a tool to judge traditional conversation. The act gives the state attorney general the authority to carry out these laws. Blue State AGs quite as Letitia James have previously cited “harassment” and” bullying” to threaten social media platforms for no suppressing speech. James filed an amicus brief in Missouri v. Biden, which&nbsp, defended the Biden Administration’s cooperation with the technology firms to&nbsp, “misinformation” because this prevented them from “protecting children from online abuse”.

Before Elon Musk acquired Online, the platform&nbsp, suspended Chaya Raichik’s Libs Of TikTok&nbsp, bill twice for “harassment” —for simply reporting on pull queen shows aimed at children.. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio- Cortez ( D- NY ) accused Raichik of causing “real life harassment” just for posting videos of hospital administrators stating their gender transition policies.

James Lawrence, a former Trump administration lawyer who has represented Raichik and numerous blacklisted creators against Big Tech, including Alex Berenson and the Babylon Bee, has criticized the law for its definition of harassment and the National Academy of Sciences has criticized it for making further policy recommendations.

Lawrence made note of the NAS’s earlier publication of a report titled” Social Media and Adolescent Health.” Sandro Galea, a professor of public health at Boston University, once referred to hate speech as a “public health issue.”

The National Academies are just the tip of the iceberg, though. As Breitbart noted when exposing other “bipartisan” social media legislation that funded the National &nbsp, Academy, the NGO is “preoccupied with the problem of ‘ misinformation.'” Social Media and Adolescent Health frequently discuss “misinformation” as a threat to public health.

A working group led by Joan Donovan, the former head of the Harvard Technology and Social Change Project and editor of the Harvard Kennedy School Misinformation Review, was set up by the National Academies more recently. According to a report from Breitbart, Donovan is one of the most extreme figures in the censorship industry.

Donovan led the charge to call Hunter Biden’s laptop misinformation. Donovan urged the media to ignore the story despite its confirmation, calling it a “manufactured scandal.”

    • Donovan advocated for the establishment of a” Truth Commission” to hold social media accountable for January 6, which the NY Times applaudably referred to as a” Reality Czar.” Prior to the creation of the Orwellian” Disinformation Governance Board.
    • The Chinese Communist Party has praised Donovan’s work pressuring Big Tech to censor coronavirus” disinformation.”

Nandini Jammi, who led Sleeping Giants and now heads CheckMyAds, the two most prominent organizations pushing for the demonetization of Breitbart News and other conservative groups, gave a presentation at the National Association of Sciences ‘ disinformation committee’s meeting on April 11. Her presentation was on” Regulatory and Other Incentives and Disincentives for Behavior Change, “and&nbsp, described Brietbart as a” disinformation network. ” She added, &nbsp”, We started out demonetizing Breitbart” and moved on to” insurrectionist content.”

The Bill is sponsored by Senators Marsha Blackburn ( R- TN) and Dick Blumenthal ( D- CT) in the Senate and Kathy Castor ( D- FL ) and Representatives Gus Biliarakis ( R- FL ), Erin Houchin ( R- IN ) and Kim Schrier ( D- WA ) in the House.

For Breitbart News, Lucas Nolan reports on issues involving free speech and online censorship.
