According to a report, Congressional Democrats appear to be prepared to protect Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA ) from a motion to vacate if one is made.

If Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA ) moves on her motion to vacate him, “more than two dozen Democrats told POLITICO they expect a swath of the party to step in and save the Republican speaker,” according to Nicholas Wu and Daniella Diaz, according to the outlet’s Nicholas Wu and Daniella Diaz.

Rep. Emanuel Cleaver (D-MO ) unspokenly predicted that the majority of the conference’s Democrats would support Johnson if a privileged motion for revocation came up.

Rep. Marie Gluesenkamp Pérez&nbsp, ( D- WA ) told Politico&nbsp, that Johnson” showed he was a leader worth saving” by moving his$ 95 billion foreign aid package, which includes nearly$ 61 billion for Ukraine.

” So I’d continue voting the same way if he kept acting the same way.” I would n’t vote for him in an election for speaker, of course. But that’s a little distinct circumstance”, she added.

Johnson criticized a package that the Senate proposed in February prior to the release of that bill, but instead of individual paying bills without any measures for border surveillance in recent months.

House Republicans were “absolutely clear from the beginning of discussions” that any’national security optional legislation must acknowledge that federal security begins at our own borders, Johnson said.

In light of the Speaker’s steps last week and over the weekend, Greene’s movement to abandon was supported in March, times before Johnson broke the Hastert Rule during the federal vote. &nbsp, Rep. Thomas Massie ( R- KY ) cosponsored Greene’s motion, and Rep. Paul Gosar ( R- AZ ) signed on after the package passed the House.

The motion differs from Rep. Matt Gaetz’s ( R- FL ), which was used to oust former Speaker Kevin McCarthy ( R- CA ), as it is not privileged, meaning the House does not have to consider it immediately. If Greene makes it privileged, the House would have to consider it within two days.

In order for the conference to come to a consensus on a successor, Johnson agrees to resign as speaker on April 17 and presented the vision to Sirius XM’s Breitbart News Daily&nbsp. This would stop the House from having speaker-less weeks of chaos after McCarthy’s term was over.

” We do n’t want to have a chance of having Hakeem Jeffries as speaker”, Massie emphasized. Even though they may not pass the Senate,” We would like to continue conducting subpoenas and hearings and passing bills, and we’d like to still have a speaker in that chair.”
