During his speech on Wednesday, Speaker of the House Mike Johnson (R-LA ) addressed the rise of antisemitism on college and university campuses in the past week. Columbia University students heckled him during his speech.
As Johnson began his talk at Columbia University, the audience could be heard screaming.
” We are currently standing on the actions of the Low Library. Columbia University once granted Winston Churchill an honourable degree in the tower that is right behind us, according to Johnson. Churchill was the one who said,” It is manifestly right that Jews should have a national home where they may be reunited,” and that is where they belong. We believe in that rule. And I’m here presently to remind all those who gnash their teeth and demand that our honest Jewish students be attacked and that neither Israel nor these Hebrew students on this school will actually stand alone.
Columbia University individuals yelled” Find the f**k off our campus!” in video footage posted to X. as Johnson was speaking.

The Speaker of the House’s attend to Columbia University comes as anti-Israel activists gathered on the campus a week ago and set up an camp. On Thursday, more than 100 activists involved in the pro- Israel camp, including Rep. Ilhan Omar’s ( D- MN) child, Isra Hirsi, were arrested, and a handful of pupils were suspended from Barnard College, including Hirsi, for their participation in the camp.
Since therefore, anti- Israel outposts, protests, and rallies have sprouted up at universities and colleges across the country such as Yale University, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, the University of Rochester in New York, and the University of North Carolina, in support of the first camp at Columbia University.
Johnson continued to address a statement from Hamas, a designated Islamic terror organization in the United States, calling the anti-Israel protesters on colleges and universities” the future leaders of America.”
” It is detestable”, Johnson added. ” Radical and severe beliefs are currently destroying the values of this college.” A growing number of individuals have chanted in support of extremists on this school, and they place a goal on the flanks of Jewish students studying in the United States. They have chased down Hebrew students, they have mocked them and reviled them”.
When a reporter asked Johnson what his response to the anti-Israel supporters in the campment was, he responded,” My message to the individuals inside the camp is, go back to school and stop the nonsense.” Appear, if we want to have a discussion on school about the qualities of these items, lets do that. However, you ca n’t intimidate your fellow students and force them to stay at home after class. Consider about that. Is that correct? Do you think that’s correct”?
