Rep. Kevin Hern (R-OK ) pleaded with Republicans on Wednesday to stop pursuing President Joe Biden’s renewed effort to transfer student loan debt to American citizens and provide them with funding.
Hern, chairman of the Republican Study Committee ( RSC), the largest liberal bloc in Congress, issued a call to arms to RSC people Wednesday with a detailed breakdown of Biden’s latest “extreme, expensive, unjust, and potentially illegal plan to ‘ cancel’ student loan borrowers ‘ debt” and an articulated analysis of the” conservative place” on the topic.
The Oklahoma Congressman criticizes Biden’s vote-buying plan as being extremely costly and reckless.
Hern told Breitbart News,” This debt transfer scheme simply passes the burden on to the American taxpayers. ” It’s a slam dunk matter for conservatives – for citizens of any philosophy, actually”.
The Biden administration is purportedly trying to buy votes during a historically significant election year, which may require the state to lend money and more aggravate inflation, according to the letter. Taxpayers may eventually be responsible for deducting this more money.

In the memo, Hern details the outlandish costs of Biden’s plan, which the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget pegs at anywhere from$ 250 billion to$ 750 billion. He claims that Biden may further aggravate runaway inflation by forcibly forcing the federal government to take out loans.
Hern appropriately called the plan a” slap in the face” to thousands of dependable borrowers whose revenue dollars must pay the cost of the freshly” cancelled” debts, saying that” The Trump Admin is doing everything in their power to make living more expensive and difficult for hardworking families.”
Hern also explains how Biden’s plan is deeply regressive. According to the memo:
The income-skating population would receive the majority of the financial gain. Graduate students in particular, including those who are enrolled in or have completed programs in lucrative fields like medicine and law, would have a disproportionately positive impact because they owe about half of their student loan debt.
Hern contends that Biden’s plan to “encourage future student loan borrowers to take out even more debt with the expectation of loan forgiveness” will raise the cost of higher education and delay necessary reforms.
Biden began rolling out his student loan” cancellation” schemes, some of which have been ruled unconstitutional, in October 2022. Hern examines each of the actions the president has taken in what he refers to as Biden’s” to buy votes during an historically significant election year, which will require the government to borrow money and further aggravate inflation.”
The document makes a compelling argument for Republicans to combat Biden’s use of the issue in his election year by promoting mass student debt transfer.
” Republicans must remain vigilant and stand together against such reckless, costly, unfair, and potentially illegal actions by the Biden administration”, the memo says in closing.
