Speaker Mike Johnson ( R- La. ) eyes to the House Chamber for a series of seats on Friday, April 19, 2024.

House Speaker Mike Johnson ( R- La. ) On Wednesday, he reaffirmed his aid for Israel and placed the blame on Hamas, a violent organization, for the deaths of children in Gaza.

When asked about the loss of children’s lives in Gaza, Johnson said,” The terrorists have used these people and put them in harm’s way. This is not the fault of Israel, it’s the fault of the terrorists.”

” Israel — I’m convinced — is simply doing its really best to prevent human deaths”, he continued. ” But this is a battle, and they’re fighting for their very life, and they are not the aggressors. It is the other side”.

According to local health authorities, Israel is under increasing stress due to its military battle in Gaza, which has resulted in the deaths of more than 34, 000 Palestinians since early October, the majority of whom are women and children.

Since the team’s surprise attack on October 7 that killed about 1, 200 people in southern Israel and held about 250 people prisoner, has lasted for almost seven decades.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu claims Israel is taking steps to protect human life and that his country has steadfastly proclaimed its intention to end Hamas.

When Johnson was speaking about the pro-Palestinian demonstrations that have roiled university campuses across the U.S., he echoed this sentiment on Wednesday.

Asked if he believes the demonstrations are racist, Johnson said,” I think there’s often a place for discussion and the free exchange of ideas, but let’s not equivocate what’s happening with Hamas and Gaza”.

” This is a challenge, as Prime Minister Netanyahu said, between excellent and evil, light over darkness, culture and barbarism”, Johnson said. ” This is n’t a close call. We have extremists who targeted, violently attacked, and murdered numerous innocent Israelis.

Why would anyone hold Israel accountable for attempting to eliminate the very terrorist threats that are already present on their threshold? We should not be dictating to Israel]on ] their military strategy. We ought to be supporting our alliance, which is the only Middle Eastern democracy that is firm, he added.

Johnson and a group of Republican politicians visited Columbia University to protest hatred and the campus-wide presentations. Protesters heckled the class at a press conference.

The remarks come shortly after Johnson’s massive international support bill, which includes practically$ 26 billion for Israel and international aid for Gaza and different locations, was passed.
