Democratic Governor of Utah With revenue from some of the largest Democrat donors in the country, Spencer Cox is election hopeful this time.

In December, Cox received a$ 50, 000 contribution from David E. Cumming and another$ 50, 000 contribution from John Cumming, both of whom registered their efforts under the same Wyoming target as the Cumming Foundation. Annette Cumming, the charity’s vice president and executive producer, was formerly the Utah’s Planned Parenthood Association’s armchair, and serves on the national political action committee for Planned Parenthood.

John Cumming was among the “biggest sponsors” of the 2020 election cycle and gave virtually$ 370, 000 to Democrats, according to campaign finance files recorded by OpenSecrets. Between 2008 and 2013, Utah’s Democratic Party made$ 50, 000 in political efforts. Since 2007, John Cumming has contributed more than$ 620, 000 to politics. The single Republicans to get funding were Cox in December and Sen. Mitt Romney, R- Utah, who received$ 4, 600 in March 2007, a fortnight after launching a political campaign.

Among David Cumming’s prior efforts, Bill and Hillary Clinton, President Barack Obama, and other Democratic figures, have received thousands of dollars.

The$ 100, 000 from remaining- aircraft donors is no small amount for the western reddish- condition governor. Deseret News reports that Cox has raised less than$ 1.7 million so far this election cycle.

The personal- styled Republican government of Utah has spent the last few years endorsing a myriad of kept- aircraft cultural causes, including transgender pronoun activism and diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives. One of the governor’s second works in business three years ago was to mark the Utah Compact on Racial Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion sponsored by the Salt Lake Chamber.

” A racially equitable position requires us to act and make a world in which race and ethnicity do not identify or reduce value, chance, and life outcomes”, the compact reads. We see racism as more than just a flaw in a person’s character. It is a system of ideas, beliefs, practices, structures, and policies that give some people greater opportunity to be fully human and live a happier and healthier life than others. It takes bold anti-racist actions and policies to unravel centuries of internalized and systemic racism right now.

Cox’s Lieutenant Gov. Deidre Henderson also signed the statement.

In 2021, the governor defended racism against white kids. A constituent had asked Cox whether it was racist for the state’s NBA team, the Utah Jazz, to exclude white children from the organization’s scholarship program. Students had to graduate high school and be a “person of color” to be eligible for the scholarship, with dozens awarded to nonwhite students since the program’s inception.

” It’s not racist”, Cox said of the explicitly racist program. The Jazz have the freedom to spend any money they choose. All kids should have equal opportunities, and we’re proud of the Jazz”.

In 2022, Governor Cox went on to veto a ban on males in girls ‘ sports.

Anyone who has interacted with the transgender community is aware of how amazing they are and how challenging it can be for them. I do n’t want to make things harder for them than they have to be”, Cox&nbsp, said. The state’s Republican legislature passed an override of the governor’s veto weeks later.

The governor was mocked by then-Fox News primetime host Tucker Carlson for introducing himself with his pronouns in 2021 a month after Cox attempted to kill the transgender sports bill.

” ‘ My preferred pronouns are he, him, his,’ Cox tells a room full of children”, Carlson said, airing a clip of the governor’s introduction. ” So, we’ve got that cleared up. Spencer Cox identifies as a male, at least to some limited extent”.

Cox had previously listed his pronouns on his Instagram bio, but he removed them in response to the outcry over his decision to forbid male athletes from competing in female athletic programs.

The governor of Utah signed a bill last year that would have ended transgender medical practice for minors. However, the legislation only forbade minors who had not received a formal diagnosis of gender dysphoria from engaging in such procedures or hormone treatments. The details of the bill still allow minors to seek medical care if they come across sympathetic doctors who are eager to provide diagnoses of dysphoria, which are readily accessible online.
