A vessel off the coast of Miami-Dade, which contained more than two dozen illegal migrants and two alleged human smugglers, was stopped by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission ( FWC), along with local, state, and federal government, the agency announced this week.
The Air and Marine Operations Center in Miami-Dade County “notified partner authorities of a potential human trafficking operation approaching the shoreline” on April 19, in response to the event.
” Miami- Metropolitan Police Department conducted an initial quit of the vehicle and was assisted shortly after by another local, state and federal agencies, including U. S. Border Patrol, U. S. Coast Guard and CBP Air and Marine Operations”, an , FWC hit transfer reads.
” Aboard a 60-foot yacht were two alleged human smugglers and about 30 refugees of Haitian citizenship. All were taken into custody and turned over to the U. S. Coast Guard for resettlement. According to the media release, one of the alleged pirates was transferred to Homeland Security Investigations.

Governor Ron DeSantis issued Executive Order# 23- 03 ( Emergency Management – Illegal Migration ) on January 6, 2023, authorizing the state law enforcement to provide resources to local governments in response to the alarming influx of migrants debarking in the Florida Keys and providing additional assistance in efforts to stop further migrant landings on Florida’s shores.
FWC soldiers have increased their attention and security efforts in response to rising concerns about illegal immigration in the north of Florida and the Florida Keys. Under Governor Ron DeSantis ‘ directive, 23 additional officers and eight more seacrafts ]sic ] have been deployed to reinforce the existing presence in the region.
In a speech thanking Florida Governor, FWC Executive Director Roger Young stated that “our law enforcement is diligently working with local, state, and national partners to handle the influx of refugees in the Florida Keys and along the coast by increasing surveillance efforts and resources. ” For his authority in addressing this crucial matter,” said Ron DeSantis.

DeSantis celebrated the success of the latest procedure, noting that they have stopped 14, 000 improper creatures since January 2023 as a result of their work:

In March, DeSantis announced that rules police intercepted a vehicle carrying Haitians who were armed with  , weapons, medicines, and night vision products. In the end, the participation of additional 25 migrants was prevented from entering the Sunshine State illegally.
” In their boat, in their vessel, they had firearms. They had drugs. The governor noted that they were “interdicted near the Sebastian inlet” and that they were “very recklessly boating very recklessly.”
” And the Coast Guard deported those illegal aliens,” he added. Our people have been doing this before we augmented this, and they’re going to do it, DeSantis continued.
Florida has increased its workforce in the state’s southern region as part of Operation Vigilant Sentry, according to the news.
DeSantis stated in a March speech that,” In January of 2023, I issued an executive order designating a state of emergency, and we surged ships to be able to assist the Coast Guard.”
” Our efforts have led to the interdiction of 670 vessels, carrying over 13, 500 illegal aliens”, the governor revealed at the time, although that figure now stands around 14, 000, given his most recent update.
