Student who filmed, confronted personal says she plans to record issue
The University of Tampa is reviewing a contentious event that just brought the school into the federal spotlight when a scholar confronted a gentleman in a woman’s room.
” The University is aware of the picture and is reviewing the condition”, Eric Cardenas, associate vice president for contacts and common interests, told The College Fix in an email Wednesday.
” Campus Safety did not receive any information about the event during the event, but the University is reviewing the situation in accordance with its normal practices,” he said. The person who was filmed is not a pupil at UT and has not received a special authorization from the administration to use the restroom.
Traditional student Nicole Gillis, who filmed and confronted the subject, revealed to The College Fix on Wednesday that she plans to lodge a complaint about the incident.
Florida Gov. A law that requires that people use the bathroom to be consistent with their biological sex, no their gender identity was signed by Ron DeSantis last month.
” I just kind of surprised that he walked right in there. No fear, no guilt. Gillis told The Fix,” Just as if he believed he belonged that when he certainly did n’t,” Gillis continued.
Gillis serves as the paragraph chair of the University of Tampa’s Young Americans for Freedom. She shared her one-minute videos with the party, which shared it on X, which caused it to go popular.

In bright lily king shorts, a bright green produce best, hot pink Converse shoes, and a white-haired wig, the man appears as a woman. He used a women’s bath in the University of Tampa’s Plant Hall, Gillis said.
Gillis claimed to The College Fix that she was shocked when a man she” had entirely tell was a guy from much away” entered a children’s room on her school.
The person is a member of St. Pete Pride, a volunteer pro- LBGTQ+ party, and was there as part of the UTampaPride, a pro- LBGTQ+ scholar business, Pride Fest event.
Gillis ‘ video was viewed this week on Facebook Reel by St. Pete Pride, and the response was “derogatory and hateful.”
” We think it’s repulsive that the video was created and is still popular on Twitter. This is a reminder to everyone that intolerance, misinformation and hate leads to continued transphobia, harm and harassment”, St. Pete Pride President Byron Green- Calisch said. We show our team members and all other trans people our support as they continue to face violence outside of bathrooms.
On its website, the University of Tampa posts a list of “gender-inclusive” restroom locations across the campus. The ones in Plant Hall are not a part of them. The hall, leased by the college, serves as a historical landmark in the community and, although used for university classes, is also open to the public.
Cardenas told The Fix he is “aware” of the law prohibiting men in women’s restrooms and that the university is in “full compliance” with its guidelines despite the April 19 incident.
The University adheres fully to the new state law regarding bathroom access, and it prioritizes the safety and well-being of all its residents, according to Cardenas in an email.
