The new federal board, which was established to advise the US government on the” safe and secure” development of artificial intelligence, includes the chief executives of OpenAI, Microsoft, and Google.
Authorities will be helped by the new advisory board’s work, according to a statement from the Department of Homeland Security ( DHS) released on Friday.
The 22-member committee was ordered by President Joe Biden to be set up by office Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas.
Mayorkas claimed that AI “presents true risks” despite being a revolutionary application.
The Board will assist DHS in overcoming the challenges that are emerging from unfriendly nation-state actors, strengthening our country’s security, according to the statement.
AI may be used by hostile forces to help larger size, faster assaults against targets like pipelines, railways and other essential facilities, it said.
According to Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella,” Artificial Intelligence is the most revolutionary technology of our day, and we must ensure it is deployed carefully and responsibly.”
Another high- driven people named to the table include the CEOs of Adobe, Alphabet, Advanced Micro Devices, Cisco, IBM, Nvidia, Delta Airlines and Northrop Grumman.
The panel also includes scientists and officials, including the government of Maryland.
The committee will join for the first time in early May to make suggestions for the safe use of AI, according to the statement.
