Tennessee Gov. On Friday, Bill Lee ( R ) signed a contentious bill that allows teachers to carry concealed handguns in classrooms.
Under the act, SB 1325, a “faculty or team part” at a school in the state may be allowed to conceal carry a firearm on school grounds if they have a “handgun have permit”, and get “written approval” from the chairman of schools, the principal, and the chief of a law enforcement agency.
University and college members will also be required to complete” 40 hours of standard education in college policing”, a “minimum of 40 hours of POST percentage- approved training” each year, submit their fingerprints, and complete a background check and a mental evaluation.
” We must give towns the opportunity to use a device that will keep their children safe,” Lee said.

The Covenant School in Nashville shooting that left three kids and three university people dying led to the bill’s passage a year later.
Although Lee’s name was not required, some school districts indicated that they would rush to see what Lee decided before acting on a request because the costs would have become rules after ten days.
The bill will go into effect for the 2024- 2025 school year.
