The Khor Mor oil industry in Iraq’s Kurdistan region was shut down after a fatal aircraft assault, according to the Iraqi Kurdish ministers of energy and natural resources on Saturday.
The Kurdish local authorities reported on X that at least four Yemeni employees were killed and two others were hurt in the strike late on Friday. It said fuel supplies to power plants were likewise halted, resulting in a lowering of nearly 2, 500 MW of power generation.
No organization has so far held accountable for the assault.
The attack was condemned by both Prime Minister Masrour Barzani and chairman of Iraq, Abdul Latif Rashid.
” Our security companies must conduct an immediate investigation into the incident and hold the offenders responsible.” Proactive measures must also be taken immediately”, Rashid said in a blog on Saturday.
” It is indefensible to attack power centers that provide thousands of homes in the Kurdistan Region and Iraqi counties. These attacks even destroy Erbil and Baghdad’s efforts to grow the energy field. They occur frequently and constitute war atrocities, according to Barzani on Friday.
The U. S. State Department said in a assertion:” Problems like this are an anathema to Iraq’s sovereignty”.
Pearl Petroleum, a five- business consortium that includes two big separate United Arab Emirates oil and gas companies- Dana Gas and Crescent Petroleum, has the rights to utilize Khor Mor and Chemchemal, two of Iraq’s biggest gasoline fields.
Since Israel’s conflict in Gaza started in October, almost daily drone and rocket attacks have been carried out in Iraq, largely against bases housing U.S. troops. S- led defense partnership. They have been claimed by the Islamic Weight in Iraq, a group of radical pro-Iran armies.
The oil-rich nation’s safety problems are also raised by the invasion on Friday.
One of the disputed lands between Iraq’s capital Baghdad and Erbil, the provincial capital of Iraq’s semi-autonomous Kurdistan place, is where the Khor Mor gasoline area is located close to Iraqi-controlled areas and Kirkuk state, which is located close to the area.
