The German government was aware that shutting down atomic flowers during the Ukraine energy crisis was a bad idea but did it anyway, and a Green party secretary who was deceived by his own party helped ensure that the closures were successful, according to a magazine that sued the state after domestic papers were obtained.
Germany’s decision to close its final three nuclear power plants in 2022 marked the start of a year-long transition toward “renewables,” which ironically left the country scrambling for hydrocarbons like brown coal, gas, and LNG. This confirms long- held” suspicions” of government lies, the conservative opposition says.
Germany Ignores Looming Energy Crisis, to Close All Nuclear Power Plants https ://t.co/kAFTPsILJD

That pushing ahead with the final nuclear closures at the same time as Russia’s war against Ukraine, which caused an energy crisis in Europe was a bad idea was obvious, apparently, to everyone except the government. Indeed, the state had insisted in March 2022 that keeping the nuclear plants open would have no impact on Germany’s energy production, and that they were not safe to keep anyway.
Despite new claims made by a German news magazine that claimed this seemingly unintuitive decision was actually based on deception, the government was taken to court to obtain internal documents. Robert Habeck, the Green Party minister in charge, allegedly withheld a significant briefing document from him in order to keep him on the de-atomization course.
If Habeck and his ministry do n’t immediately turn over all documents related to the early nuclear shutdown for review, Germany’s opposition has threatened to launch an inquiry committee. Habeck, for his part, insists “nothing has been hidden” and denies the scandal, and co- governing liberal party the FDP expresses concern, but warns feeding the scandal risks giving opportunity to the right- wing populists and” conspiracy theorists”.

The allegations come from German political news magazine Cicero, which claims the documents that were required to be made show:” How the Green Party’s puppet masters manipulated the decision to extend the life of German nuclear power plants in 2022. Robert Habeck was also misinformed”. A specialist department within the Habeck ‘s , department of the Federal Ministry of Economics, which states that a post-nuclear Germany has enough gas to keep its plants operating all winter, has the key document: a March 3rd, 2022 paper from a specialist department.
Extending the life of Germany’s final nuclear plants would “help defuse this situation” leading to a projected fall in energy prices. The paper added that because they were so old and prone to be unreliable, suffering breakdowns, already- mothballed coal-fired plants would not be completely suitable to bridge the gap. It would be “extremely risky” to rely on gas alone.
Russia had already invaded Ukraine a month earlier, and the beginning of a gas supply crisis was already obvious.
However, Habeck’s message to the public was largely the opposite, with the Green-left coalition government stating that” the energy economic added value of an extension of the]nuclear plants is very limited.”

This may not have been Habeck’s fault entirely, as Cicero states it has discovered he was never shown the briefing document, and the most senior government member who saw the paper was Habeck’s deputy,  , Patrick Graichen, who later resigned over a series of corruption scandals. Cicero asked rhetorically whether the politician had “let it disappear in a drawer” to find out whether life-long Green fanatic Graichen had purposefully withheld the paper from his boss to ensure the nuclear shutdown went ahead.
As summarised by by , Welt , in their report:  ,” Habeck was apparently deceived by his own people… , top officials apparently kept the warnings secret even from the minister”
Habeck may be able to cite ignorance of the briefing document, but he certainly cannot be attributed ignorance of the extensive public discussion on the benefits of ending nuclear in a gas crisis. When the final closure date for Germany’s plants in 2023 was set, coalition partner the FDP called it a strategic error, and even Green Queen Greta Thunberg pleaded with Germany to reconsider.
In June 2022, experts from the , a group representing the nuclear energy industry, publicly criticized the idea. They remarked,” We advise utilizing all available resources to better manage the energy crisis.” The power plants are undergoing shutdown. The harder it is to get them back up the longer you wait.
The accusations are already causing a scandal in Germany, but the Green-left coalition government insists that the facts are being misrepresented. The FDP’s right-wing coalition partners also advise caution, if only to stop their conservative-populist political rivals from winning.

Their spokesman continued,” I find it difficult to imagine that the minister would not be aware of it in such a contentious discussion in a ministry.” That would n’t reflect well on the leadership of the house”. He also warned against making room for” conspiracy theorists and the AfD” to make claims that the government works secretly or misleads the public.
Speaking on Friday, Habeck addressed the claims at a press conference and denied any wrongdoing. He said, reports , Focus:” Nothing has been hidden… The power plant operators also said at the time that the fuel elements were exhausted. The story that was spread by the files is different from the one that was widely spread yesterday. Nothing has been hidden”. Habeck’s department the Ministry of Economic Affairs also pushed back, asserting the version of events expressed in , Cicero was” shortened and without context”, and its conclusions” not accurate”.
More details, without a doubt, would provide more information about the issue, the claims, and the counter-claims. German conservative-centist opposition the CDU, which was formerly the party of long-term Chancellor Angela Merkel, is attempting to get it. They demand the government , hands over all documents relating to shutdown of nuclear, otherwise” consquences” of a committee of enquiry are threatened.
When nuclear power was phased out, the old myth was confirmed by party spokesman Thorsten Frei, who added:” The old suspicion was confirmed.
