Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY ) stated on Sunday on NBC’s” Meet the Press” that military aid to Ukraine was not charity and that it created jobs in the US.
Guest Kristen Welker said,” I want to ask you about your reputation. You only this month stated that you frequently feel like the only remaining Reagan Republican. What are your biggest worries about the Republican Party’s coming as you prepare to resign from your management position this time?
McConnell said,” I tell you, I feel better about it after we had our ballot. I do n’t know what I said then, it may have been before the vote. I do think harmony through power which is the Reagan solution, not the Taft protectionism back in the’ 40s, is recovering,. I think in this season, more of my people actually focused on information, and it’s hard to argue against the supplemental”.
He added,” It’s in our attention. this is not generosity to Ukraine. It’s in our attention. We’ve kind of shifted our attention away from the necessity of playing the role we do in the planet. It’s in our attention. Nothing in this is charity, and everyone in the political world supports what we did this year. That should attract the attention of our people, along with all of the new jobs being created in their states as a result of our spending on modernizing our industrial base for the great challenges that lie ahead, including China, Russia, and Iran, respectively.
