Maria Zakharova, a spokesman for the Russian Foreign Ministry, issued a warning to European nations on Sunday against seizing its resources.
According to a report from the Wall Street Journal, Zakharova quoted in a article on Telegram that claimed that Germany was arguing in favor of leaving Russia’s freezing assets alive so that they could be used as leverage to inspire Russia to lose some of the Ukrainian place it invaded.
Zakharova vowed a “harsh” answer if European nations seize its assets and threatened a “harsh” response from Russia.
” I do n’t know who is saying what, but assets do not change on the territory. We do n’t trade our homeland”, Zakharova wrote on Telegram, according to an English version via Google Translate.
And Russian assets may keep impenetrable, in order for there to be a swift response to American theft. And many people in the West have now realized this. It’s a sympathy that no all”, the language continued.
U.S. officials now have the authority to seize Russian state assets located in the country and use them to gain Kyiv under the new U.S. international aid bundle, which was signed into law last month. At the start of the war, U. S. and its allies froze about$ 300 billion in Russian foreign holdings, about$ 5 billion of which is located in the U. S.
It’s possible that Ukraine will receive another$ 5 billion in aid, but it’s unlikely that the United States will seize the assets without consent from the Group of Seven countries and the European Union.
