Qatar is apparently playing a smaller negotiator part as hostages, with Egypt then taking the lead as hostage as Israel continues to try to free hostages that Hamas abducted on October 7. Hamas is still a member of Qatar, so there are still conflicting opinions about how the connection will develop. According to Wall Street Journal, Hamas is thinking about leaving Qatar. Therefore, Qatar said that Hamas will remain in the country so long as the evil group remains “useful” in conversations. Then, Turkish Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan stated that he did n’t believe Qatar or Hamas wanted to split up.
Qatar continues to show it is not an honest dealer in securing the launch of the victims, irrespective of the future of the Qatar-Hamas relationship. Qatar continues to publicly denounce itself as bigoted against Israel and the Jewish people, and it is yet another important figure in the jihad that is Hamas ‘ ( and the Palestinian Authority’s ) primary goal, just like Qatar’s statements shortly after October 7. Qatar Continues to Reward Hamas ‘ October 7 Attack
Bassem Na’im, a part of the Hamas political commission and former health minister in the Hamas state, quoted in an article from Al-Jazeera in January that described the October 7 invasion as “heroic” and” a scaled-down design of the last war of liberation and the disappearance of the Zionist job.”
The Qatari press also praised Saleh Al-Arouri, one of the masterminds behind the attacks on October 7 after he was killed by Israel in January 2024. Various Qatari outlets described him as” a daring fighter”,” a hero of the resistance”,” a great national leader”, and of course, a “martyr”.
Qatar Encourages Baseless Libels Against Israel and the Jews
This month, Qatari representative to the Arab Parliament, Shura Council Member Essa bin Ahmad Al- Nassr, stated flatly that” there can be no peace or negotiations with the Zionist entity”, because Judaism condones “deception, the violation of agreements and lies”. He added that” ]t ] hey only accept one thing, killing” and that” they are the slayers of the prophets”. Al- Nassr added that Hamas ‘ October 7 attack would “absorb the corruption that the Zionist entity has spread.”

Qatar does not have Israel’s best interest in mind during its tenure as hostage negotiator. Qatar has been expressing the anti-Israel, anti-Jewish vitriol that it did right after October 7 and even before that day for almost seven months. Israel should reevaluate its relationship with Qatar in a post-war Gaza and fire Qatar from its position as negotiator. Additionally, the United States should significantly lessen its ties to Qatar and work harder to advance and expand the Abraham Accords.
