Gov. The most astounding political murder committed by Kristin Noem (R-SD ) since Gary Hart.
By many accounts, Noem, a famous government with a growing national model, was on former President Trump’s evil national list. Even if he did n’t choose her, there was little doubt Noem had a political future—she’s a beauty with made- for- TV looks, conservative, rural, and, in this era consumed by identity politics, being a woman does n’t hurt. One could anticipate her joining a potential Trump government in 2028 before launching a presidential campaign.
No again.
In her future social book, No Going Again, certainly written to improve her chances of becoming Trump’s VP pick, Noem…
- Concedes to shooting a 14- fortnight- ancient puppy in the head.
- slanders the 14-month-old puppy’s fatal shooting as a noble act of authority that demonstrates she’s prepared to make the difficult decisions.
According to the far- left Guardian’s account of Noem’s story ( which Noem has not disputed ), here’s how it went down…
” Cricket was a wirehair marker, about 14 months outdated”, Noem writes, adding that the adult dog had an “aggressive personality”. Noem went dog bird hunting in an effort to calm her down by teaching her to kill. Otherwise, Cricket ruined all by going “out of her head with pleasure, chasing all those animals and having the time of her life”.
After that fatal kill, Noem said she stopped to see a roommate. Cricket then jumped out of the truck and ravaged the neighbor’s chickens, “grabb]ing ] one chicken at a time, crunching it to death with one bite, then dropping it to attack another”. Noem said Cricket “whipped around to bite me” when Noem grabbed the dog’s neck to prevent the meat murder.
Noem claims the dog acted like a” trained assassin” that day, but was also” the picture of pure joy”.
Noem admitted that she “hated that dog” and decided Cricket was “untrainable]and ] dangerous to anyone she came in contact with”.
” At that moment”, Noem says,” I realized I had to put her down”. And so…
Noem shot Cricket dying by taking her out of a sand trap.
Noem also tells the story of putting down a “nasty and mean” animal the same way in the same sand pit elsewhere in the text.
On Sunday, after the puppycide history broke, Noem released a Xwitter statement that said in element:
In my forthcoming book, No Going Again, I can understand why some people are upset about a 20-year-old tale about Cricket, one of our ranch’s working dogs. The text is filled with some honest tales of my life, good and bad days, problems, terrible judgments, and lessons learned.
…
I have never let anyone else handle my responsibilities, whether they are in charge of the ranch or politics. Even if it’s hard and painful. I followed the law and was being a responsible parent, dog owner, and neighbor.
As I explained in the book, it was n’t easy. However, the simple solution frequently does n’t work the way it should.
Uhm, no.
Choosing to shoot a 14- month- old dog is what’s “easy”. Accepting what it means when you voluntarily assume responsibility for a life is the “right way.” Noem should have taken the time to train Cricket, hired someone else to train her, or put her up for adoption.
Shooting a 14- month- old dog for acting like a 14- month- old dog is reprehensible.
It is unacceptable to admit that you shot a 14-month-old dog for acting like a 14-month-old dog in a political book intended to raise your national profile. Noem has only demonstrated that she lacks political judgment and tone-deafness to perform on the national stage.
She will always be the murderer of the Lady Puppy.
The jokes never end.
And she merits it.
Who shoots a rambunctious 14- month- old dog? Noem even acknowledges that the dog was” the picture of pure joy.” Cricket was n’t a mean dog, therefore. She was immature. You can work with that dog.
If an older dog starts biting, that’s a different story. Something’s wrong. I just went through that over Christmas. It was n’t even my dog, but I’m the one who got bit, and the whole ordeal was heartbreaking. That story, if I were to tell it, would be filled with regret and sadness. The last words I would use would be “hate” or “useless”. I’m still sick over it.
One of my dogs would frequently nip at me and cruelly bully his younger brother. This went on for at least 18 months. Today, Frankie is ten, and we ca n’t imagine life without him.
And for the moment, I do n’t agree with this nonsense about how challenging rural life is. My grandparents were dairy farmers, and they eventually ended up with a pointless dog that could n’t be trained in their seventies ( when they were 70 years old ). They continued to hold it ( and my grandfather was capable of doing so when necessary ). Instead, they built it a shelter inside a fenced pasture. Every day, winter and summer, that dog was fed until it died of natural causes.
When you take on responsibility for a life, whether it’s a dog or a goldfish, it should mean more than just putting a bullet in its head when it becomes inconvenient.
Noem writes that moments after she shot Cricket, the school bus arrived to drop off her kids …” Kennedy looked around confused”, Noem writes of her daughter, who then asked:” Hey, where’s Cricket”?
Man alive.
