Ecuador’s foreign government announced on Monday that it has filed a lawsuit against Mexico at the International Court of Justice over the country’s refusal to grant past Ecuadorean vice chairman Jorge Glas prison. Las Vegas, who has twice been found guilty of fraud and is currently facing new costs, was detained this quarter during a police raid on the country’s Quitoembassy, where he had been a resident since December. Mexico has currently sued Ecuador at the Judge for the incident, which drew foreign criticism.
Ecuador’s staff at the courtroom in The Hague presented the petition, the foreign ministry said in the speech,” for a series of breaches by Mexico of a series of foreign duty, for the conduct of the land since Dec 17, 2023″. The suit also mentions “insulting” statements by Mexican Prez Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, the ministry added.
