According to a person with knowledge of the situation, Donald Trump and Florida governor Ron DeSantis discussed the possibility of tapping DeSantis ‘ donor system.
After a rough patch of relationships, which Trump’s attacks on DeSantis during the Republican primaries heightened, the former president’s and his one-time opponent’s relationship is at ease at the Miami conference. DeSantis, previously considered a powerful member, dropped out in January.
Reaching into DeSantis ‘ donor network may provide additional funds for the presumed Republican nomination as Trump faces a money drain from the expenses of his diverse court cases. At the same time, President Joe Biden’s campaign widened its fundraising lead over Trump in March, raising more than$ 90 million.
As of April 21, Trump had only$ 6.8 million in the records he’s been using to finance his attorneys. That may encourage him to use additional sources of money to pay for future bills and fund his campaign.
This year, Donald Trump and his strategy are scheduled to hold a surrender in Palm Beach, Florida, with about 400 donors and many vice presidential candidates.
Trump’s campaign and DeSantis ‘ office did n’t immediately respond to requests for comment on Sunday.
