The Hill reports that nearly 200 liberal organizations show support for student protesters.

Student protesters gather in opposition inside their camp on the Columbia University school, Monday, April 29, 2024, in New York. With slogans, cheering, and drumming, Gaza protesters who are encamped at Columbia University defied a deadline to end the program.
” We commend the students who are exercising their right to protest happily despite an enormous environment of stress, harassment and retribution, to raise consciousness about Israel’s abuse on Gaza – with U. S. weapons and funding”, the declaration, signed by groups including Justice Democrats and the Sunrise Movement, reads.
These individuals have made clear demands that their institutions turn away from Israeli-occupied companies and demand safe havens for Palestinians on their campuses, the statement continues. The kids inspire us all to take actions and speak out against injustice wherever it occurs by their courage and determination in the face of hardship. It is crucial that everyone of us do everything in our power to support them because they are currently putting them at risk.
In recent months, protests centered on the grave humanitarian situation in Gaza and Israeli human rights have sprung up on school campuses across the country, most importantly at Columbia University. The school’s demonstrators on Tuesday blocked entrances and flew a Israeli flag outside a glass of Hamilton Hall, according to The Associated Press.
In honor of Hind Rajab, a Gazan saint who was killed at the hands of the murderous Israeli position at the age of six, an autonomous team reclaimed Hind’s Hall, which was formerly known as” Hamilton Hall,” according to a statement posted on the social media platform X on Tuesday.
” This increase represents the next generation of the 1968, 1985, and 1992 student actions which Columbia when repressed but enjoys today”, the statement continues. ” Protestors have voiced their intention to remain at Hind’s Hall until Columbia concedes to CUAD’s three demands: divestment, financial transparency, and amnesty”.
As the AP reports that more than 1, 000 people have been detained on campuses as the academic year draws to a close. Protests have also expanded outside of the U. S. to Canada, according to The Canadian Press, and Europe. Some Jewish students have asserted that the protests have caused them to feel uneasy.
