SAN DIEGO ( FOX 5/KUSI) —Two migrants have been hospitalized after falling from the wall along the U. S. Mexico border near San Diego Monday night, U. S. Border Patrol officials confirmed.
The two ladies were reported by Border Patrol to have suffered injuries in a reported drop when providers first encountered them last evening around 9:30 p.m.
Officials did not provide details about the nature of their injuries, but said health professionals arrived on the scene and determined they needed “higher levels care.” The two people are still unidentified and were taken to a local hospital.
No further information was soon made about the event.
Injuries sustained from the boundary wall, both dangerous and quasi- life- threatening, have been on the rise along the San Diego sector of the U. S. Mexico border over the last few years, following the Trump Administration’s move to improve sections of the structure’s height to 30 feet.
Due to this shift, UC San Diego Health had reported treating fewer than 60 people who had fallen from the boundary wall in 2019. However, that number jumped to upward of 450 two years later.
At least five workers have died as a result of the fall of the boundary wall this time, and lots more have been hurt.
