GOP senator calls for deporting certain foreign student protesters

Sen. Marsha Blackburn ( R- Tenn. ) called for the U. S. government to revoke the visas given to international students who are Hamas supporters and deport&nbsp, them as college demonstrations continue nationwide.

” Then, in my opinion, for the individuals who are out protesting, shouting’ Death to America’ and ‘ Death to Israel ‘ and … being Hamas supporters, if they’re overseas individuals, I would take their card and arrest them”, she continued.

Blackburn continued, arguing that if they are U. S. individuals who are national student loan lenders, she had &nbsp, pull&nbsp, their money since&nbsp, it&nbsp, is funded by tax money.

The Tennessee senator made the remarks shortly after Columbia University students took command of a university building early on Tuesday night. Demonstrators blocked entrances and flew a Palestinian emblem from a glass at Hamilton Hall in a change from what has mostly been a peaceful protest on campus.

The pro-Palestine protests have spread throughout the nation, with many other school schools experiencing camps there. More than 1, 000 persons have been arrested on campuses according to protesting.

Many of the student activists have supported efforts for a cease-fire and called for their schools to leave Israel. Although the protests have denounced racism and have not specifically supported Hamas in the ongoing conflict, a few occurrences have emerged as a result of a larger issue.

Columbia&nbsp, banned a student protest leader&nbsp, from campus who&nbsp, said, &nbsp,” Zionists do n’t deserve to live”. A resurfaced video of a protest organizer, Khymani James, &nbsp, showed him saying earlier this year&nbsp, that people should be grateful that he does n’t go around “murdering Zionists”. James has apologized for his remarks.

Blackburn said that if people are “looking in the lens and saying,’ I am Hamas,’ we may feel them” and put them to the criminal see listing and no- fly list.
