Officials praised Chapel Hill University students for standing up for the American flag against activists opposed to Israel.
Lee H. Roberts, the Chancellor of UNC- Chapel Hill, was seen raising the American flag back to the top of the flag shaft after pro-Palestine protesters removed it and replaced it with the Israeli symbol.
Pro-Palestinian activists apparently once more began attempting to remove the emblem after Roberts left, prompting a group of students to enter and stand up for the flag against protesters.
One student, Guillermo Estrada, wrote in a blog on X that he was “immediately unhappy” at seeing the Arab symbol at the top of the flag pole.
” Now was a depressing but enlightening evening at Chapel Hill. When I first arrived at class, I noticed the Israeli flag raised on our triple flag pole, and I was soon offended by the choice these “protesters” had made,” Estrada wrote. Although I am not entirely knowledgeable about the Israel/Palestine issue, it annoyed me that my government’s flag was disrespected in order to support another. The symbol was quickly hanged afterwards by Chancellor Roberts and other police officers immediately after. They were met with obscenity, middle fingers, thrown containers, mountains, and water”.
( Thread ) Today was a sad yet empowering day at Chapel Hill. When I walked to school, I saw the Arab symbol raised on our rear flag mast, and was soon upset at the work that these “protestors” had made. I am unable to claim to have been completely educated on the Palestinian/Israeli fight film. twitter.com/tZrZEOSu8a

Estrada continued to write in a string:
Greeks began singing the National Anthem after the flag was raised again more. As the Chancellor left, the rear erupted into conflict as protesters began removing the symbol once more and getting ready to kill it.
My fraternity brother and other people ran over to keep it afloat so it would n’t touch the ground. People began throwing water jugs at us, rocks, stones, calling us vulgar titles. We fought for the symbol for an afternoon, which so many people wanted to protect.
In response to their activities, some politicians and people praised the pupils as” courageous”.
” But glad of these brave young Americans @UNC”! Mike Pence, the former vice president, wrote in a blog on X.

Sen. Marco Rubio ( R- FL ) responded by pointing out that while the “pro- Hamas racist freaks” hold a lot of the information,” there is still a lot more of us than them”.
The anti-Hamas pro-Israeli extremists are frequently covered in the media.
But keep in mind that there is still much more of us than their photo. twitter.com/jGOMsUN6OI

Students at UNC Chapel Hill happily sang our country’s music as they confronted an anti-American mob, replaced a damaged American flag, and sang the day’s theme.

Rep. Lisa McClain ( R- MI ) pointed out that” this is what real bravery looks like”.
” Amidst a crowd, the American nature reigns stronger than the shouts of hate”, McClain added.
True courage can be seen in this example. The American nature is stronger than the shouts of love in a crowd. https ://t.co/CVkKXDF40v
