Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY ) pleaded with the House Republican leadership to step up and tell Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA ) that he should voluntarily step down for the best of the conference.
Massie and Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene ( R- GA )  , announced , Wednesday that they would force a vote on Greene’s motion to vacate “next week”. House Democrats Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY), Whip Katherine Clark (D-MA ), and Caucus Chair Pete Aguilar (D-CA ) made their pledge less than 24 hours after they jointly declared they would support keeping Johnson’s gavel from conservatives by deciding to support any motion to rescind.
According to Greene and Massie, the Republican majority deserves better than a coalition government with Democrats, with Massie accusing Johnson of” three betrayals” in terms of federal money, allowing security of American people, and financing Ukraine without first obtaining the frontier.

Massie criticized members of her own conference for asking them to consider whether they want to visit the uniparty next week, exclusively by asking them to intervene with Johnson during the press conference.
We have a management team, a group of people who can go from meeting seat to whip to bulk leader. Why do we had a group? We have a team, so that when one of them goes off the rails, the others can approach them and say,” You are no longer suited for this job.”
He continued to make the call to arms:
So I challenge the whip, the majority leader, the seminar seat, the plan head, everyone in our conference, to sit down with Mike Johnson and have that talk and tell him it’s not worth it, Mike. It’s certainly worthwhile to promote energy with Hakeem Jeffries just for the conceit that you continue to hold the title of speech. It does n’t serve our country. It does n’t serve our conference. They need to beg him to retire. That is what they ought to complete. And I challenge them to have that strong debate.
Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-LA ), Majority Whip Tom Emmer (R-MN), Conference Chair Elise Stefanik (R-NY), and Policy Chair Gary Palmer (R-AL ) were asked by Breitbart News if they would vote with Democratic leadership to veto the motion and if they would consider asking Johnson to step down.
None of the practices responded.
In the end, Jeffries received the gift from Democrat government’s relationship with Johnson, according to Massie and Greene on Wednesday, as a strategic shift to maintain control of the House’s legislative agenda this year and stifle Democratic prospects in November.
” Their complete authority group plans on getting a campaign in January, thanks to Mike Johnson,” Massie said.
” Where is our management team? They need to be as united as Hakeem’s group is and they need to isolate Mike Johnson and say, Mike, it’s time to keep Congress.”
