A future GOP-led Senate now has the authority to wrest control of any presidencies that will certainly come their way if there is a positive side to Democrats ‘ casual dismissal of immigration minister Alejandro Mayorkas ‘ accusation this year. However, there is no world in which Democrats will recognize that gift.
In reality, Democrats will control the House and make up great murder and misdemeanor allegations the next time. far sooner than you think — enough Republicans, reliably compliant, will consider it ’s the Senate’s absolute moral and legal obligation to contemplate, deliberate and ultimately sponsor a trial that remedies the falsified concern.
It’s sickeningly exceptional for Republicans to gain fire when Democrats escalate their immovable war on American democracy, organizations, and standards. Democrats impeached the next Republican president — half! And one of those times, he was n’t even in business.
There was n’t a glimmer of significance to either. The second impeachment was the result of a telephone call between Donald Trump and the Ukrainian leader, during which a government official complained that Joe Biden, his previous boss, had made any credible allegations of crime. The next served as a pretext to guarantee that Trump would never win re-election.
Yet many Senate Republicans, always afraid that someone at The New York Times may yell at them, voted with Democrats to justify all of it with two complete trials that, although it ’s of much compassion, ended in acquittals.
The first step in the process should have been to impeach Joe Biden the second Republicans took control of the House in 2023. They did n’t even have to bother with the “inquiry ” in hopes of nailing down some actual crime. As America was assured by our supportive media during the Trump administration’s attempt to remove 1. 0, impeachment is a political process, not a criminal one.
It could have been called the “ Just For Fun Impeachment of Joe Biden, ” and it would have been just as real as the two previous accusations against Trump. That’s the cheapness that Democrats brought to the process.
But, as we know, Biden has n’t been impeached by this GOP-“led ” House. He most surely won’t be. Voters who gave Republicans the keys to power did, however, get the bare minimum— Mayorkas, a Biden administration official, was accused of lying about his professional conduct and willfully refusing to enforce immigration law, which is a “breach of trust.” ”
What should have followed is simple: a Senate trial of the accusations against Mayorkas, who would be entitled to a defense. That is a lost custom from the United States that was once referred to as “due process.” He would have been cleared in any case. But instead, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer said, Screw you, Republicans! before tossing their tiny pieces of impeachment material in the trash along with John Fetterman’s smiley face doodles.
Schumer demonstrated how big his balls are after every Senate Democrat cast a ballot to remove the impeachment provisions. “If we start cheapening impeachment, ” he said in an interview with The New York Times, “which is what they’ve done by letting a policy issue become impeachment, there will be impeachment all the time. ”
No Republican in the Senate has the muscle to flex that way. Republicans in the House’s complicity and stupidity are just as bad or worse.
Republican Rep. Sen. Buck of Colorado voted against them because, he claimed,” Partisan impeachments that do not meet the constitutional standard will boomerang back and hurt Republicans in the future. ”
Buck apparently woke up in the middle of 2021 after a four-year slumber. It’s Democrats who started “partisan impeachments. ” Should n’t that “boomerang back ” on them?
GOP California Rep. Republicans should not allow the left to be their teachers, according to Tom McClintock, who also urged Republicans against doing so. ”
Average Republican officeholder: If we do it to them, they’ll do it to us.
They already assaulted us.
Average Republican officeholder: Yeah, but we’re better than that.
Such is the Republican party’s winning mindset: losing with dignity is actually winning!
No, dummy. Winning is winning. And winning is n’t for the sake of itself. It’s for the purpose of wielding power. They are about as useful as a set of “His and Hers ” towels for Lindsey Graham if Republicans ca n’t do that on a straightforward task like impeaching a corrupt cabinet official.
The pattern is old and clear: Democrats escalate tensions, and when Republicans get their turn, they hide. This time is no different, and next time will be the same.
